Creative Costumes

1. Easy-to-Make

There will definitely be a fair number of “Avengers”, “Descendants”, and “The Lion King” characters walking around this year, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with joining in, but we have a few creative ideas for you. If your child is really into Legos®, then find a solid color shirt and pair of pants for them to wear. Attach a string to an egg crate, spray paint to match the color of their clothes, and have them wear the egg crate with the “bottom” facing out — your child is a Lego brick!

2. Pun for Everyone!

If you enjoy a good pun, then you’re sure to like this idea! Find a plain white shirt and glue a variety of candies to the bottom half. Purchase several oversized necklaces, bonus points for one that has a dollar sign as a charm, a fedora, and a microphone, and you’re all set — you’re a candy rapper!

3. Superheroes

There are so many different superheroes, that it might be a great idea to simply let your child choose who they would like to be. If they think that they are Captain Glitter Sparkle, and will bring joy to everyone they meet, then go for it! Find a metallic material that you can cut into a cape and attach with a string. Be sure to find an equally shiny mask to match!

Fun Activities

1. The Screaming Cup

Your kids are sure to love all of the creepy sounds that this craft will make, especially as your guests arrive at your home! In fact, this craft is reusable for many years to come — just add rosin as needed. All you’ll need is a plastic cup, some string, and violin rosin. You can find the directions here.

2. Paint Glow-in-the-Dark Jack-o’-Lanterns

Carving pumpkins can be fun, but it can also be quite messy. If you’re looking for a way to show your Halloween spirit without all the clean-up, then be sure to try a little glow-in-the-dark fun. Order glow-in-the-dark powder, mix with your paint color of choice, and have fun!

3. Color Changing Worms

You can help your kids learn a cool science lesson while having fun preparing a spooky-looking dish for some Halloween fun. Check out these heat-sensitive insta-worms. You and your child can select the color that you want the worms to become. Follow the directions, and watch science in action!

At Table-Mate®, we know that no matter what costumes or activities you choose, you are sure to have fun spending time with your family this year.
